Philips rechargeable battery operated candles

  • What does it do?:

It gives low level rechargeable lighting for moving around at night

  • What’s the problem?:

For subtle lighting at night - enough to avoid having to wake a partner by switching lights on to see your way.

  • What our testers liked:

Lights can be charged during the day, they are straightforward to set up and provide a soft constant light for 10 hours.

  • What our testers disliked:

Working out how to turn the candles on and off was a little tricky first time around, concerns were raised that for some the light levels were not hight enough to navigate by.  Candle holders are made of glass so there were some concerns that they might be knocked over and break.

  • What our testers said:

"Lovely soft night light that discourages switching off.  Might not be bright or robust enough for some."

  • Manufacturer:

  • Approximate cost: £30
