Masterlock keysafe

  • What does it do?:

It stores big keys safely. It can only be opened by using a unique combination. Placed outside the front door, this allows more than one carer to access the home at any time.

  • What’s the problem?:

Store a key securely to give family or carers controlled access to a home.

  • What our testers liked:

Solid construction, large size and easy to reset the code at any time.  Easy to reset at any time as long as the existing code is in position on the dial.

  • What our testers disliked:

Packaging was difficult to open even with scissors.  The groups feel it's a little too large, the numbers are tricky to position precisely, the numbers are black on silver - not a great contrast so requires good eyesight or glasses to operate.  The lever used to open the safe is too small to allow a proper grip.

  • What is interesting:
  • This would need to be illuminated at night. Numbers on a keypad would be easier for those with poor dexterity and eyesight. A better contrast between numbers and background would make visibility easier.
  • What our testers said:

"The dial lock is awkward, this device is not designed for ageing hands."

  • Manufacturer:

    Masterlock

  • Approximate cost: £29
